Engagement Analysis to Enhance Audience Experience

University Library UNIZA is part of the DOORS – Digital Incubator of Museums network.
DOORS has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and
innovation programme under grant agreement No 101036071.

Brief info about our pilot

DOORs pilot fits in the long term strategy of our institution, as the library focuses on new ways of audience analysis to enhance engagement, number of visitors and audience experience. Also, library employees are keen on learning new options to improve services and share knowledge with museums and other institutions.

In this project, we would like to focus on the use of sensory analysis in libraries, museums and galleries, which will be done by sensors, analyzing user input and output within the room and also the behavior of users within the room by additional data analysis using heat maps.

More info coming soon.

Innovation area

Innovating audience analysis and engagement: Developing innovative (hybrid and online) audience engagement formats to strengthen audience participation and loyalty. Pilots should develop interaction, participation and mediation tools and technologies for presentation based, as well as hands-on & two-way communication formats. Experiments should include an appropriate audience analysis and assessment of the best engagement platform (web, social media, app, etc)

Team brainstorming session

Stage I - Incubation programme

As a benefit of being selected to first stage of Incubation programme, we took part in online sessions with DOORS coordinators and experts in the field of digital, digital innovation and implementation. Along with other 40 institutions we have attended workshops, peer to peer sessions with digital providers, inspirational talks and other sessions aimed to improve our perception of digital and communication of digital.

Perfectly balanced, as all things should be

Everyday object, that symbolises our pilot

We have chosen a two-arm scale that represents the balance we strive to achieve by using ICT, analyzing the collected data and adjusting the environment and processes in the institution. We want to move measurement of user behavior on websites and social networks into the real, physical world. Improve our services, premises, visitor experience and share our experience with other institutions.

During the Workshops we were mainly using the Miro board. Excellent online tool for shared workspace and filling out the tasks.

During the course of Stage 1 activities members of our Pilot Team gained and improved skills in

Activities during Stage 1 also helped us to better understand aim of digital transformation in our institution and to locate weaker spots in our first proposal.

Whats next?

Based on knowledge and skills from Stage 1, our team is now revising some parts of first proposal and will apply for second Stage with improved Pilot. 20 institutions are going to be selected from the pool of 40.

Being selected for second stage would really open the door for digital innovation in our institution.
